Luna Composition Lab is “changing the playing field” for young artists (The New Yorker). Launched in 2016 by composers Missy Mazzoli and Ellen Reidwith the Kaufman Music Center, Luna Lab elevates underrepresented voices in the world of classical music by providing mentorship and resources for young female, non-binary, and gender nonconforming composers across the country. The impact of Luna Lab is reverberating through concert halls and classrooms throughout the U.S. Its alumni are making their mark in the composition field, with numerous awards and honors as well as commissions from professional ensembles. Luna Lab celebrates its talented alumni in the first ever Alumni Showcase, featuring musicians from the International Contemporary Ensemble. Nia Franklin hosts the event.
