Congratulations to Luna Lab’s graduating seniors!
This year Luna Lab celebrates fourteen alumni, spanning five different fellowship years. Eight Luna Lab alumni have graduated from high school, four have graduated from college, and two have earned their graduate degrees.
We asked our graduating seniors to share their advice for fellow students and composers, reflections on their time at school and with Luna Lab, and what they are most looking forward to as they embark on their next musical journey.
Our graduates advise incoming students to balance the demands of their studies with making the most of all the opportunities and connections coming their way. Zola says: “Take time in developing relationships with people in your community. You are stepping into a whole other bubble and that can be scary, but trust in the process; you are allowed to move and change in this new space.” Many others echoed this encouragement to cast a wide net. As Chloe puts it: “Say yes as much as you can, because you never know what experience will end up shaping you.”
Looking back on their time with Luna Lab, our alumni remembered eye-opening workshops, inspiring composers, and friendly peers. Anchi reflects: “I will always carry with me the sense of community and immense belonging from my Luna Lab experience. I hope to use this experience to help to foster a welcoming and supportive atmosphere within any composition community I may find myself in going forward!” From Los Angeles to New York City, our alumni look forward to working on new passion projects, connecting with fellow musicians, and building their post-graduate lives all across the country.
Read more from each Luna Lab alum on Instagram as we celebrate each of these accomplished composers.
